From the time of the Greek Olympics to the present day massive heavyweights,
boxing has captured the imagination of the public. As the sport has evolved
over the last century and a half from bare knuckle fighters through the roaring
twenties and into the present day and so has the promotion of these prize
fights.
Boxing has always drawn a crowd. Whether it is a street corner match or at Madison
Square Garden, people flock to these spectacles. Over the years people have wagered
untold billions of dollars on their out come.
The change in the sport that has occurred over the years is truly amazing. In
todays civilized world bare knuckle fighting would considered barbaric. Even
the infamous Tommy Burn s's twelve continuous Heavy Weight fights in less than
two years would be unheard of today. Boxing has not seen an equal to Joe
Louis's eleven straight years of holding the Heavy Weight title.
As rich as boxing's past has been, the future holds just as great a promise.
